Appreciating Kaden's Journey
Kaden, a 2024 high school senior graduate from Kearney, Nebraska, recently made the move from Louisiana to the Central Nebraska region. As an animal lover with aspirations of becoming a veterinarian, Kaden's story is as unique as it is inspiring. My aim, during her senior photography session, was to celebrate her journey, capture her love for animals, and showcase her vibrant personality.
Planning the Perfect Senior Photography Session - Harmon Park
To ensure that Kaden's senior portrait session truly reflected her interests and personality, we meticulously planned a two-day photoshoot that embraced different locations and vibes. Our goal was to create a gallery that showcased the many facets of Kaden's life and future plans.
The first leg of the session took place in the earthy botanical gardens of Harmon Park in the heart of Kearney, Nebraska, where Kaden's connection with nature came alive. Surrounded by vibrant flowers and lush greenery, Kaden radiated joy and serenity. The natural beauty of the botanical gardens perfectly complemented her gentle spirit and love for all living creatures. Though we were met with gentle warm rain shower accompanied us this day, a clear umbrella, and keeping it light and fun was all we needed to capture her radiant smile. Outdoor Senior Photography Session on the Platte River
For the second part of the session, we headed to the picturesque Platte River during sunset. Though golden hour didn’t shine through with the storms passing by in the area, we added a magical touch to Kaden's portraits, by playing around with the rain and water at the river, picked native wildflowers, and found beautiful juniper trees full of berries to play off her stunning wide blue eyes. Against the backdrop of the prairie landscape, we captured Kaden's adventurous side, her love for wide-open spaces, and a sense of freedom.
Celebrating Kearney's Downtown Charm
To showcase Kaden's connection to her new hometown, we ventured into downtown Kearney on the bricks. The vibrant urban vibes perfectly reflected Kaden's outgoing personality and zest for life. I chose funky locations with charming architecture that let her be the star in her favorite color to wear, blue! Kaden, though worried she would be awkward in front of the camera for her portraits, exuded confidence and model level execution for all the prompts and poses I threw her direction! You would have thought this girl was a professional model!
A college-ready senior for University of Nebraska!
Moreover, we couldn't miss the opportunity to commemorate Kaden's future academic achievements. With her plans to attend college within Nebraska and pursue a career as a veterinarian, we captured her in her cap and gown at the University of Nebraska Kearney (UNK) campus. It was a remarkable moment, symbolizing Kaden's hard work, dedication, and success.

My utmost priority was to make Kaden feel comfortable, beautiful, and, most importantly, to have fun during her senior photography session. By creating a relaxed environment, I was able to capture the essence of her true spirit and capture photographs that radiated with her unique personality.

From her connection with nature in the botanical gardens and river to her lively energy in downtown Kearney, and finally, her achievement as a soon-to-be college graduate, every photo represents a momentous chapter in Kaden's life.
